About us
The right choice for nurses who wish to excel in practice.
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program offers doctoral preparation to nurses whose career emphasis is direct clinical nursing practice or areas that support clinical practice, such as administration and health policy development. This contrasts with the aim of PhD education for nurses, the goal of which is to prepare nurses for scientific investigation and a career in nursing scholarship.
We offer the following options to earn your DNP at ²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵ State:
- : for nurses who have already earned a BSN
- : for nurses who have already earned a master's degree
You will use this application to apply to either program.
The DNP program pursues a holistic approach to personalized healthcare for those impacted by disparities in health and healthcare access. The goal of scholarly productivity in the program is the application of translational science to practice-focused scholarship. Both post-master's and post-baccalaureate study options are available.
The ²ÝÁñ¶ÌÊÓƵ State University College of Nursing is proud to offer particular graduate-level specialty programs in a distance learning format. While the DNP coursework is completed through distance learning, many classes are offered synchronously. This means that there will be a designated time that you are required to log in and participate in class.
In the BSN to DNP program specifically, students select one advanced practice specialty at the time of application. All specialties in our program are available through on-campus study. Family Nurse Practitioner, Neonatal Nurse Practitioner, and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner also offer a distance learning option. All DNP specific coursework is completed online. If you select a campus-based specialty, you will be required to complete all of the specialty coursework by attending classes in person on our Columbus campus.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to visit the or email us at nursing@osu.edu to find out whether their program of interest is available in their home state. Please check back often, as the College and University are aggressively pursuing authorization in all 50 states.
